One of the most popular Vegetarian Finger Food options for both Lunch and Canapes is Nutmeg and Pepper Caramelised Onion and Goats Cheese Tart. Here we share the Recipe to our Caramelised Onion Jam... there are alternate ingredients to make this sugar free and Vegan.

4 Large Red Organic Onions, fine diced 

4 tbsp of Red Wine Vinegar or Balsamic Vinegar (your preferred flavour)

4 tbsp Brown Sugar or Maple Syrup

1 clove of Organic Garlic, finely minced

1 tbsp Butter or Nutlex if Vegan

1/4 tsp Garam Masala 

1/4 tsp fine cracked Pepper


In a heavy based saucepan, sauté the onions with the butter/Nutlex. Now add in the remaining ingredients and stir constantly over medium heat until the ingredients are combined. Reduce heat to low and allow to cook further until of jam consistency.

Sterilise a small Jam jar 200g then pour the jam in and allow to set for 10 mins upside down so that the jam lid seals. Turn back upright and store in your pantry until ready to use. 

Once opened refrigerate and use within 2 weeks.
